Gustavo Arango is a Latino designer working in the American fashion industry. He was born in Cali, Colombia, and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has been designing clothes since he was 17 years old. In 1989, his passion for design and constant drive to create took him to New York City. Arango studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.), where he excelled from the start and obtained his first job in 1991 as an Assistant Fashion Designer for Pierre Balmain.

His appreciation for detail, intricate tailoring and draping techniques, as well as his keen eye for luxury and style characterize his successful 30-year plus career. His label reflects the lifestyle and taste of the very chic international jet set. He designs and supervises his business from his atelier in San Juan, Puerto Rico.


Arango launched GUSTAVO, a bridge collection of women sportswear. His high quality and stylish line of suits soon became appreciated throughout the industry for their fine details.


Arango became the Fashion Director for the Bill Blass Suit License.


The Gustavo Arango Atelier and Flagship Boutique opened in a 4,000 square foot, three-level building at Roosevelt Avenue in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The distribution of the GUSTAVO bridge line and the GUSTAVO ARANGO COUTURE COLLECTION is exclusive to the Flagship Boutique.


Arango launched his SIGNATURE COLLECTION at the New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park, New York City.


Arango continued presenting his collections through international venues. In the following years celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Anne Hathaway, Oprah Winfrey, Roselyn Sánchez, and Adamari López among other celebrities has worn his couture designs for important red carpet events.


Arango presented the ROUGE Fall-Winter Collection. Fifty-two styles marched down the runway in the biggest coliseum in the Caribbean, Jose Miguel Agrelot. This fashion show presented the always “avant-garde” designs of Arango.

ROUGE served as a fund-raiser event for the important non-profit organization called “SER de Puerto Rico”, demonstrating Arango’s philanthropy work.


Gustavo Arango opens his first retail store in Mall of San Juan. The store offers ready to wear clothing, designed and crafted by Gustavo Arango. It offers accessories, art, and other fashion items that go well with his designs.
